Mercedes Benz SSK, 1929

The kit was pretty straight forward with no major problems. The engine was pretty much a square block of plastic. (this was the only downer though - the exterior and chassis showed great detail.). I painted some detail to help the engine look better, and added 6 spark plug wires to the stock distributor. I repainted many of the engine parts aluminum, stripping off the kit’s chrome plating, to make them period correct.

I used black wash in the wire wheels to create the 3-D effect, as well as on the radiator and the engine. The dashboard was painted with splotchy brown, to make it look like wood grain. And I very carefully painted the letters on the license plates by hand.
