X-Wing Fighter, Star Wars

Initially I built with the original stickers out of the box. Was not happy with the look, so I stripped it and started over. This time I used dozens of reference photos from the original ILM studio models to get the paint and weathering as close as possible.

I kept the stickers for Red 5 on the wings, but all other deco is either hand painted or masked and airbrushed. Battle scaring and blaster marks were achieved with AK weathering pencils and Vallejo light gray wash. Sepia wash was used to highlight rusty areas.

Painting the 3mm R2-D2 was the most difficult of all. Started with blue across the bottom edge, then silver, then blue along the top. Used a very fine paint brush to line/separate the blue details.
