Yet another P-38J. This time California Cutie. The invasion stripes were done following the experience of the earlier build. The stripes on the wings were done first, masked off, and the camouflage pattern done next. The stripes on the booms were done over the camouflage pattern. I found this was much easier to do and keep the stripes strait. The white of the stripes were done with Alclad white primer which provides good coverage. The black stripes were Vallejo “NATO Black”, my preferred black for models. Camouflage colors were Vallejo paints. The silver nose was done with Alclad polished aluminum over Tamia Gloss Black. Note that this combination did not cause the crazing as observed using the Alclad Gloss Black under coat. The aftermarket decals worked OK, but had incorrect aircraft serial numbers. I printed all tail markings with an ALPS printer.
