The Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike first appeared in the 1983 Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi on the fictional planer of Endor. Scout Troopers were trained in advanced reconnaissance and with an unusual degree of independence so they can serve as scouts and snipers far from Imperial support.
The model is built on a custom laser cut birch plywood base, filled with lead shot for weight. AK Terrains Thick Mud - Acrylic Diorama paste over the birch plywood. The Thick Mud does shrink as it dries! Custom laser cut paper ferns and various foam and natural leaf material were added to the acrylic mud base.
The Speeder Bike was painted with various Vallejo and Archive X acrylic paints over Mr. Surfacer 1500 primer. Various Vallejo & AK pigments & washes were used for weathering. Sanding and abrasion with fine wire brushes were used to chip the Speeder Bike paint.
The Scout Trooper figure was weathered with a Dremel tool with a rubber disk to abrade the unpainted plastic. Additional weathering was achieved with various Vallejo & AK pigments & washes. Fabric athletic tape wrapped the Scout Trooper’s fabric parts and the tape was then painted with Flat black Testers enamel. The large ankle joint gaps were covered with white vinyl electrical tape.
